A ‘Bossa De Luxe’ from Hank Mobley and his highly rated ‘Hi Voltage’ album. McLean’s sharp alto provides the perfect foil to Mobley’s rounded tenor and Blue Mitchell’s bright trumpet completes the three horned attack!

Haven’t got this one out for a while…. sounds good today!
Got my ticket for this today! GP comes to Norwich, with Earl Zinger… gonna be great!!
Great live performance from Monk and Coltrane. Whole Live at the five spot album is worth getting!
Theo Parrish ‘Summertime Is Here’. All the originals are harder to find now, but Ubiquity put out a lovely double vinyl of the Detroit legend’s Sound Signature tunes. This one came out in 1999. It’s warm, woozy and will make you move around uncomfortably, much like the British summer…
Along with ‘Ghost Ship’ the other non original- album track to feature on Bonobo’s Black Sands Remixed is this - Brace Brace. It’s a gorgeously orchestrated, shimmering piece; Balearic through and through! Wonderful.
What a brilliant tune from Bonobo… ‘Ghost Ship’ from his Black Sands Remixed album.
Just had the bassline for this pop into my head, not sure why but not unhappy about it….
Listenin to this is most definitely ‘The thing to do’… great upbeat jazz from Blue Mitchell who swings hard. Junior Cook, normally associated with Horace Silver, takes the tenor sax duties, and Chick Corea on an unusual Blue Note outting sounds great on the piano.
Burial’s ‘Untrue’ is always worth re-visiting, particularly on warm, muggy nights. It’s dubstep, but almost cinematic, orchestral in its quality and arrangement.
