I remember vividly that one of 2008’s most anticipated dance albums was Quiet Village’s Silent Movie. Joel Martin and Matt Edwards (Quiet Village) were to release a full length, official album of their highly sought-after music, built almost entirely from samples. It’s a true chilled-out, downtempo masterpiece. There are moments of real beauty, and the whole thing is cinematic in scope. I was really immersing myself in the whole Balearic/House/Soulful House/Nu-jazz thing back then, and this fitted the bill. Coming to it with fresh ears and it still sounds awesome. Get the whole album, but for now let me take you to ‘Utopia’…
